  • Elder - Ian Roberts

    Ian is from Swansea and lives in Loughor with his wife Kay and two children, Summer and Charlie.

    Even though he was brought up in a Christian home, he gave his life to Jesus in his thirties and has had a conviction to serve the church ever since.

    He serves as an Elder and is passionate about building healthy church communities where everyone plays their part.

    Ian oversees teaching and discipleship with a desire to lead more people to a personal relationship with Jesus.

  • Elder - Jason Thomas

    Jason serves as an elder at Abide Church, where he oversees pastoral care and the church’s prayer ministry. With a background in the emergency services and now working in the NHS, he is passionate about supporting people through difficult times, particularly those experiencing bereavement.

    Born and raised in Carmarthenshire, Jason is committed to the church’s mission both locally and globally. He cares deeply about prayer and community and is committed to helping Abide Church be a place where people feel safe, cared for, and valued - a community where everyone can experience the transforming love of Christ and grow in faith.

  • Deacon - Nia Pound

    Nia lives in Llanelli with her son, Ezra. From a young age, she has known and loved Jesus, growing up in church and developing a deep passion for serving others.

    She is passionate about living a life that reflects Jesus to the community by fostering genuine fellowship.

    As a deacon, Nia oversees worship within the church, with a heart to bring authentic praise and worship that draws people closer to God.

  • Deacon - Viv Watkeys

    Viv is born and bred in Llanelli is now retired and lives in Llangennech with his wife Claire. He has 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

    Both Viv & Claire gave their lives to Jesus in January 1985 whilst watching Billy Graham preach on tv in Roker Park, Sunderland.

    Viv has served in a number of churches and has been in church leadership and part of church planting.

    Viv serves as a deacon in church and is passionate about community and families.

  • Deacon - Ruth Visick-Evans

    Ruth moved to Llanelli in 2017, her husband Matthew’s hometown, after living in England and Uganda. She became a Christian at age nine and has served in leadership across several churches.

    Now embracing life in Wales, Ruth is learning Welsh and enjoys exploring the coast and countryside with Matthew, their daughter Anna, and their dog Hedd.

    Passionate about mission, hospitality, and social justice, Ruth longs to see the church be a place of welcome and love for all.

    As a deacon, she leads our ministry to children and young people (0–25), helping them grow in their identity in Christ and live out their faith with purpose.

  • Trustee - Ian Jeal

    Ian, with his wife Jill, has spent many years leading prayer in the European Institutions and developing prayer initiatives across the continent. They are pioneers who spent twenty years on field in Strasbourg working pastorally with politicians from a number of European nations.

    They have three daughters and four grandchildren living both in the UK and France.

  • Trustee - Ian Read

    Ian, a husband, father and grandfather, a life long passionate follower of Jesus, an entrepreneur with a heart for international mission.

    Ian, a registered general nurse by profession, served with his wife, Irene, running a house of prayer in Spain. During their time in Spain they supported several struggling international churches and saw several challenging situations turn around.

    During that time Ian also had responsibilities for teaching leadership skills to mission workers across South East Asia which led him into his present role. As the founder and CEO of Bikes4Mission Ian has a determination to get the gospel into the world’s hidden nooks and crannies, encouraging God’s people to fulfil the great commission.
